About The Programme

The qualification provides a chance for the learner to acquire a range of skills to be able to manage the activities of the organization and provide specialized administrative and secretarial support to managers, either as part of a team or individually. They also organize activities of assigned personnel and provide current and updated applicable information to the executive as support for upcoming seminars.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS – Matric Certificate or any other NQF Level 4 qualification.

Certification

  • Certificate will be issued by the Quality Council for Trade & Occupations (QCTO) on successful completion of External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA)


Qualification Structure & Examinations

  • The duration of study for this qualification is 36 months.

  • There will be an examination element containing knowledge & practical to be successfully completed for each module, as well as;

  • Workplace Evidence collected and signed (logbook) and thereafter to be
    considered for External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA) by QCTO and the Assessment Quality Partner SERVICES SETA.

  • Document management and record-keeping

  • Computerised Information Processing

  • Resource and procurement management

  • Social media and digital literacy

  • Office protocol, deportment and etiquette

  • Business communication and customer services

  • Ready for work standards

  • Basic business calculations

  • Apply End User Computing

  • Business documentation and design

  • Meeting administration

  • Introductory project management


Practical Skills Modules

  • 8 Practical Skill Modules (75 Credits):

  • Create a trip itinerary

  • Address protocol requirements

  • Determine, acquire and allocate resources for the secretarial unit

  • Design and develop complex text documents

  • Manage a small project

  • Support the recruitment, selection and induction of staff

  • Apply communication and effective customer relationships

  • Organise meetings


Workplace Modules

  • 8 Work Experience Modules (135 Credits):

  • Perform administrative and meeting support functions to support management

  • Apply ready for work standards to everyday work activities

  • Handle customer and client’s queries and liaison in an office

  • Assist in planning and coordinating at least two special events/conferences

  • Procure and allocate resources

  • Manage a paperless office

  • Apply supervisory skills to coordinate and direct clerical staff activities

  • Prepare a trip itinerary


Assessment and Award:

Students are required to complete the following:

  • 1 x Summative Assessment per Knowledge Module

  • 1 x Integrated External Summative Assessment

  • 1 x Formative Practical Assessment

  • 1 x Summative Assessment

You will receive an Occupational Certificate: Management Assistant from the QCTO after completion of the External Integrated Summative Assessment.
