About The Programme

The aim of this qualification is to assists in the provisioning of social services and support to individuals, families, groups and communities with regards to a full range of social services and related social welfare matters. These services include emotional trauma, emotional stress, financial stress, recreational needs, social needs and matters relating to housing.

Admission Requirements

The minimum entry requirement into this qualification is an NQF Level 04 or Grade 12 certificate


Career Opportunities

A qualified learner will be able to:

  1. Render basic counselling and support services to individuals and families with socio-economic challenges.

  2. Facilitate non-therapeutic (educational and support groups) groups as well as participatory development in communities to address their common socio-economic needs,

  3. Promote social justice and to collect and collate data to inform social services intervention.


Certification

  • Certificate will be issued by the Quality Council for Trade & Occupations (QCTO) on successful completion of External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA) 


Qualification Structure & Examinations

  • The duration of study for this qualification is 18 months.

  • There will be an examination element containing knowledge & practical to be successfully completed for each module

  • Workplace Evidence collected and signed (logbook) and thereafter to be considered for External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA) by the Assessment Quality Partner HWETA (Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority)
